Tondalo Hall, a 30-year old mother from Oklahoma, is serving a 30 year sentence–15 times that of the man who abused her and her children–for “failing to protect” her children from his abuse. It’s a cruel failure of the justice system that all too often punishes survivors of domestic violence.
Right now, we have a chance to make it right. Tondalo has applied for a special kind of clemency called commutation, which could lead to her release. If the Oklahoma Parole Board is convinced to #FreeTondaloHall, her release could set a precedent for the many similar cases across the country.
You can help by making a #MonumentQuilt square to demand justice for Tondalo Hall. The Monument Quilt, an ongoing collection of stories from survivors of rape and abuse, will be on display at Tondalo Hall’s hearing, in support of her commutation, in partnership with Ultraviolet. Collected quilt squares will be on display when the Board takes up her case in May to let Tondalo Hall know she is NOT ALONE.
