Gather Together is multi-racial, multi-gender, Baltimore based grassroots collective of people who encountered and survived sexual and domestic violence at some point in their lives. Gather Together empowers survivors to:
- Equally lead by sharing the power of a community,
- Establish and provide safe and supportive spaces for healing and sharing, and
- Engage their voices to create art activism and community action .
We welcome and honor survivors and victims of sexual and domestic violence to our family. We organize a variety of ways for all survivors to be part this effort, including a monthly potluck, a monthly skill-share series, and special programs and events, with a focus on the arts.
Our work focuses on the interplay between sexual and domestic violence and oppression based on race, sex, gender, class, age, ability, immigration and disability and our experiences that represent these realities.
Our efforts are like waves in the ocean. When we gather together, we are building a safe and supportive spaces. Outside of the group, this support enables each of us to be leaders who can stand in our truth as people who have experienced domestic and sexual violence. Through all of our work, our focus is on the power and impact of survivors’ voices being positioned at the core of policies, programs and services preventing sexual and domestic violence and ultimately heal and eradicate its effects.
Our goal is for our impact to expand across the country. Our overall mission is coaching and mentoring others to learn in that they replicate our efforts.
