In addition to the bizarre and backwards representations of rape and sexual violence in media and popular culture, rape is perpetuated by the belief that men are violent and aggressive, and women are victims. Existing stereotypes and forced social norms are further exaggerated by the persistent pop cultural imagery that creates and re-creates rape culture.
