FORCE AT YOUR SCHOOL

Force is currently being brought to college campuses accross the United States to promote a conversation about sexual violence and the practice of consent. There are many ways that you can bring FORCE to your school. Contact us at upsettingrapeculture@gmail.com.

Host the Exhibition:
Do you have a campus gallery or student space that would fit the exhibition? FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture merges art with activism to promote a critical dialogue about how our attitudes towards gender, sex, power and violence are played out on people’s bodies. Works in the show address rape as both a psychological and a physical weapon. FORCE exposes the personal, social and political realities of rape culture in contemporary American society. FORCE is an educational event series and organizing ground. Performances, screenings and talk-backs will be hosted in partnership with local anti-violence and feminist organizations, building on a counter-culture based on consent. Workshops about healthy relationships will create opportunities for learning in a safe space.

Host a Screening:
Several of the videos in FORCE can be hosted as an independent screening or as part of a larger screening or event. Films like Cecelia Condit's Beneath the Skin or Gine Caducci and Matilda Berstein's All That Sheltering Emptiness provide poignant narritives that give viewers a window not only into personal experiences of sexual violence but also the larger systems that created it. Hosting a screening is a great way to start conversations at your school.

Host a Workshop:
The organizers of FORCE teach workshops on rape culture, the practice of consent, and feminist activist tactics. We have been brought to campuses to present in academic classes, to student groups and at special events.
